Welcome to my page-glad you found your way here! My name is Julie Schimunek and I am an independent artist living on Vancouver Island. At the moment I am working on my very first CD with my good friend and partner in rhyme Glenn Bowie from the Boston area. He writes the lyrics and I compose and record all the music. Instruments include guitar, cello, mandolin, washboard, piano and soon to be accordion and ukelele. 
I have recorded 15 songs but they are in the midst of remix and mastering.. Three demos are here on this page and the others are coming soon on our first CD is entitled No Borders. No idea when that will be released..perhaps by the end of year. Am frying a few fish at the moment.
In the meantime Glenn and I attended a Songwriters workshop in Courtenay with Dan Hill, Ralph Murphy and Steve Wilkinson June 19 and 20, 2011. Great time was had by all and then we attended the 4th Annual Vancouver Island Music Business Conference June 22-26. Brian Hazelbower and Pam Edgar at CHLY 101.7 FM in Nanaimo invited us down for an interview June 26 Sunday morning. Was great to finally meet them and for them to meet Glenn and I in person. So June has been busy. Now I have just finished a course online with Sarah Gavigan of Nashville on how to license music into commercials. It is all so exciting. I love composing and recording music so anxious to get back into the studio with Hugh Schmid in Sept. and finish up the cd and whatever else I get tangled up with. Thanks to Susie McGregor and Andrew Lorimer for putting on such a great VIMBC conference again this year. I hear there might be one in Oct, as well??? Keep you posted on that one. Any musicians and songwriters out there? please come and check it out … you will not be sorry.
