no borders music
Welcome to my page-glad you found your way here! My name is Julie Schimunek and I am an independent artist living on Vancouver Island. At the moment I am working on my very first CD with my good friend and music partner Glenn Bowie from the Boston area. He writes the lyrics and I compose and record all the music. Instruments include guitar, cello, mandolin, washboard, piano and soon to be accordion and ukelele.
I thank God for my talent because without Him, I would not be doing this. I have recorded 15 songs and they are in the midst of remix and mastering.. Three demos are here on this page and the others are coming soon on our first CD which is entitled No Borders. When shall it all come to fruition?……perhaps by the end of year. I composed 62 pieces of music the first year Glenn and I were in cahoots. I was working at the Ridgeview Motor Inn here in Gold River on night shift. It was perfect really. Get up in the morning and start recording until around 1 pm…head off to work for 8 hours and then come home and edit the mornings work. Did I mention that I was a bit OCD? To some that might mean, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, but in the light of not being able to focus on things in this day and age due to all the distractions…is it really a bad thing? So this composing went on for 9 months and let me tell you I only touched the tip of the iceberg when it came to Glenn’s writings. He wrote at least 400 works the first year we met. Since then I have lost count and now he has enlisted many to collaborate with him. After the 9 months was up a friend Cathy Meske mentioned to me the Vancouver Island Music Business Conference and I decided that I would go. Glenn decided he would come up and take it in too. So we have met and he has come up three years running now. Hi secret desire is to live in Canada and write music, but until then he produces outstanding elevators in Boston. Sadly, this year is the first year he will not be attending. Glenn Bowie really is a thoughtful writer and basically spends all his time writing when he is not building elevators. Check out his link on this page on the right hand side. I have a Reverbnation page as well and you can hear more of my songs there. Some are demos though, so hang in there.
As of late I have started painting and will be starting a website dedicated to that asap. I am in the process of scanning my art to make the website. I found a little gadget that you can check out on the side bar in the link section. Click on Flip-Pal. For anyone who wants to scan anything large or small, this is the thing to use. There is access on that site to the official Flip-Pal site and how to save money purchasing it. Have fun!
